Heavy Rain and Strong Winds Cause Scaffolding Collapse in Pattaya 8 September 2024,


At approximately 5:00 p.m., heavy rain and strong winds wreaked havoc in Pattaya City, causing scaffolding from a construction site to collapse onto power lines. The incident resulted in high-voltage power poles breaking and blocking the road, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Pattaya —18 September 2024

Heavy rainfall caused significant flooding in Pattaya, leaving roads impassable and stranding vehicles in waist-deep water.

The rain lasted for over an hour early Wednesday, September 18th, causing temperatures to drop and water levels to rise significantly, reaching over 90 centimeters in some areas.

Thailand 3 meters under water! Cars and bridges swept away, worst flood in Phayao

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, in the picturesque Muang district of Phayao, an unrelenting downpour transformed the tranquil Mae Ka Huai Khian stream into a raging torrent, leaving devastation in its wake.

The relentless rain had burst the stream’s banks overnight, causing flood levels to soar between one and two metres. The University of Phayao, a beacon of knowledge and youth, wasn’t spared from nature’s wrath.

Chiang Mai now encounters with heavy flood after a heavy rain. The high level of Ping River expand through the roads in Chiang Mai CIty. Some areas are very deep. People are evacuating to a safer place, moving there cars and properties to a safer place. There was already an issued warning for residents to move themselves and there belongings.

Now Thailand is sinking 3.5 meters! Floods sweep away cars and homes in Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai is inundated with heavy rains that have caused flooding in many districts, especially Mae Rim District, which was hit by both flash floods and standing water. Mae Rim flash floods swept away houses along the riverbank.

The Hydrological Center 1 in Chiang Mai has issued a warning to residents living along the Ping River to prepare for overflowing water by moving their belongings to higher ground.

Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai has been severely flooded, with rescuers and staff struggling to save jumbos and other animals as all roads to the site have been cut off by floodwater and landslides.

The park in Mae Taeng district posted an urgent message on its Facebook page on Friday saying the flooding had worsened and plunged it into a critical stage. Everything at the centre is cut off from the outside world, from electricity to telephone signals.

Between August 16th and October 7th, 2024, Thailand’s Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) reported extensive flooding across 44 provinces, affecting 240,857 households. The floods resulted in 52 deaths and 28 injuries.
The provinces hit hardest included Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Mae Hong Son, and Ubon Ratchathani, with 267 districts and 5,973 villages impacted.

Thai Floods Cause 36.9 Billion Baht in Damages, Agriculture Hit Hardest

On October 10th, 2024, Thanawat Phonwichai, the Chairman of the Advisory Board of the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) Economic and Business Forecasting Center, revealed that the floods in 2024 have caused an estimated economic loss of 36.9 billion baht. This estimate assumes the situation will improve within 15 days.
