A small bomb was detonated, injuring two people, in Bangkok last night.
The device, which exploded in front of the National Theater at Sanam Luang at around 8.20pm (May 15), was concealed inside a piece of pvc piping.
Two people were taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries. Thevictims were identified as Ms Chanpen Wutthi-aekpaiboon and Ms Kanchana Booncheep.
Both sustained minor injuries on their arms and were given first aid treatment at a field hospital tent of the army at Sanam Luang.

Police chief: It wasn't a bomb
Metropolitan Police Bureau chief Sanit Mahathavorn said the object that injured two women on Monday was not an explosive device and urged people not to panic.
Explosive ordnance disposal police inspecting the scene found no traces of gunpowder. They believed the loud bangs came from an old PVC pipe that exploded due to high pressure.

Police have new story about city bomb
Police admitted Wednesday the blast near Sanam Luang which injured two women on Monday was caused by a low-impact bomb on a timer, saying their initial claim that explosive materials were not used was a tactic to keep the investigation under wraps.
