Several street vendors exchanged heated words with police and municipal officials who told them to stay off the pavement at a fresh market in the southern province of Krabi, and one almost came to blows with them.
At first, the sellers refused to remove their crates and boxes from the pavement. One of them threatened to punch anyone who touched his property, as officials continued to clear the area.
Frustrated and angry, the seller went on a rampage and demolished his own stall.
A video of the incident was posted on Krabi Municipality's Facebook page on Tuesday.
Facebook user Sonthaya Kangreng sympathised with the authorities. He said his mother was a street vendor but she never argued with city officials or police. She obeyed regulations and did not obstruct pedestrians.
