O hvilken herlig dag nye oversvømmelser på vej
The Meteorological Department on Wednesday morning issued a warning for people in nine southern provinces to prepare for widespread scattered rain with heavy falls in some areas and the danger of floods today and tomorrow.
The department said the northeast monsoon is now prevailing over the southern region and the Gulf of Thailand. This will cause widespread scattered rain on the eastern parts of the South.
People living near hillsides and waterways in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Trang, Songkhla, Satun, Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat should prepare for heavy rain and flash flooding, it warned.
There will also be strong wind-generated 2 to 3-metre-high waves in the Gulf of Thailand. All shipping should proceed with caution and small boats should keep ashore today and tomorrow, the department said.
