Thaksin not to accept royal pardon
Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra on Sunday issued a statement insisting that he will not accept any benefit from the proposed royal pardon decree for bringing about national reconciliation, reports said.
The hand-written statement was issued in Dubai and distributed to reporters this morning by Noppadon Pattama, a legal advisor to Thaksin.
Thaksin said in his statement that he was concerned about the widespread flooding in Thailand and wanted Thai people to get through this flood crisis.
To get the country out of this crisis, unity and reconciliation among Thai people is needed, he added.
“I am willing to support all measures that lead to national reconciliation. I do not want to see any attempt that could damage reconciliation climate.
“I am ready to sacrifice my personal happiness even though I have received no justice for more than five years. For all Thai people, I will exercise patience”, said Thaksin.
The former prime minister said he was confidence that the government’s proposed pardon decree is not for his benefit or for helping any particular person as alleged.
More importantly, the attempt at this time must be for bringing about reconciliation in the country and for getting the country out of flood crisis, he added.
Thaksin called on all parties who love the nation to know the word “forgive and forget” in order to move forward for best benefit of the country. http://www.bangko...yal-pardon

Pracha rules out Thaksin's pardon
November 20, 2011 7:07 am
Justice Minister Pracha Promnok insisted Sunday that former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra would not be benefitted from the draft royal decree to seek royal pardons for inmates.
"Thaksin will not receive benefit from the decree and his name will not be included in the list of convicts eligible for royal pardon," Pracha said.
"Convicts on the run will not be eligible."
Pracha told a press conference that the draft decree of 2012 used the same wordings with the royal decree of 2011, which was enacted during the term of Democrat Party's justice minister Piraphan Saliratwipak.
